Lord, Renovate My Heart

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for granting me access to You through the blood of Jesus. Thank You for being the good God that You are. Thank You that You never fail. Thank You for being Faithful and True. I know that I can trust You with my heart, so I present it afresh to You today.

Lord, You said that You would never leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:5, Hebrews 13:5); You said that even if I made my bed in hell that You would be there with me (Psalm 139:8), so I am confident that You are with me right now. Your word says that You hear and answer me when I cry out to You (Psalm 34:17, Psalm 118:5, Jeremiah 33:3), so I trust that Your ear is to my lips and that You are faithful to answer.

Lord, I need Your help. I am asking You to renovate my heart. Make it new. Revive my heart and restore it to a place of peace and goodness. I have endured things that are far too much to bear and I don’t want to hold onto them any more. I release [name what you are releasing] to You, and make room for the fruit of the spirit to live here: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. I know that the heart is a complex place with many layers and memories, so I ask that you would give me spiritual eyes to see the things within my heart that I cannot perceive on my own. Holy Spirit, I invite You to examine me. Reveal the ugly truths and destructive lies still living in my heart and give me the courage to face them and bring them to You, knowing that I am a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and there is no shame or condemnation for me (Romans 8:1). Highlight what is in my heart that is not like You. Show me the areas that You desire to clean out, reshape, rebuild, and restore. Lord, whatever is taking up residence in my heart that is causing damage, rotting, molding, and instability (spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally), I give You permission to uproot it all. I give You the keys to every room of my heart and ask that You do a total makeover. I know my part is to surrender, obey, and let go so that You can lead. Help me to not invite the things we are trashing back into my heart. Lord, don’t leave me empty— but fill me with You and with Your overwhelming love through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Leave me totally astounded at the beauty You create in me from all this brokenness. I surrender, Lord. Your word says that You would give me a new heart and a new spirit; That you would take away this heart of stone in exchange for a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). I receive that heart today and I thank You for it. Lord, I am so grateful that You are in the business of restoring souls and healing hearts (Psalm 23:3, 147:3). I thank You that in You I find complete peace, restoration, and wholeness. Help me to live this out day by day, and give me grace to get back up whenever I might fall, in Jesus’ mighty and matchless name I pray. Amen.
